Intterra Receives Grant for National Expansion

Intterra Receives Grant from America the Beautiful Foundation for National Expansion

Through its SAFE program, the Foundation is funding the nationwide expansion of Intterra’s Aware technology into AwareUS — a free, trusted source of real-time, authoritative emergency information for all U.S. states and territories

WASHINGTON, DC — June 9, 2026 — America The Beautiful Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to renewing the beauty, strength, and promise of America, today announced a grant to public safety technology provider Intterra to expand its Aware platform nationwide as AwareUS, delivering trusted, real-time emergency information, at no cost, to communities across all U.S. states and territories.

The grant, awarded through the Foundation’s SAFE (Safeguarding Communities, Forests & Ecosystems) program, will fund an authoritative national public safety information platform directly connected to state, local, tribal, territorial, and federal public safety agencies, ensuring that when disaster strikes, Americans hear directly from the agencies protecting them, not from rumor or speculation.

“America The Beautiful Foundation is focused on solutions that strengthen communities and help protect lives, landscapes, and public trust,” said Dr. Emily Weeks, Executive Director of America The Beautiful Foundation. “Every American deserves access to clear, timely, and authoritative public safety information. The public should not have to piece together life-safety information from rumors, social media, scanner traffic, or secondhand sources. The authoritative voice belongs with public safety agencies, and this platform is being built to ensure consistent and accurate information is provided to the public.”

Protecting Lives, Communities, and the American Landscape

The grant reflects the Foundation’s commitment to safeguarding the people and places that make America beautiful. Through its SAFE program, the Foundation is advancing wildfire prevention, AI-enabled early detection, predictive analytics, and emergency response systems, working hand-in-hand with frontline fire agencies and land managers across the country to protect American lives, communities, and natural landscapes.

“This grant will allow America The Beautiful Foundation to work alongside Intterra to build a national platform that helps communities prepare, respond, evacuate, and recover from all-hazard events with better information,” said Dr. Weeks.

During wildfires, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, hazardous material events, and other emergencies, fragmented or delayed information can create confusion and increase risk. The platform is designed to close that gap by helping agencies publish verified information quickly and consistently, including evacuation notices, incident locations, shelter information, road impacts, preparedness guidance, and other critical updates.

A National Platform Built on Proven Technology

The Aware technology, created by Intterra will be expanded to give Americans a single, trusted source for real-time public safety information, supporting all-hazard emergency awareness across the country, including wildfire incidents, evacuation information, agency updates, and situational awareness.

The national expansion will support state and territory-branded community applications connected through a broader national platform. The public gains a consistent, no-cost way to receive trusted emergency information, while participating agencies control what they publish, the timing of their updates, and the official voice their communities rely on during critical incidents. Wildfire will serve as the initial focus given fire’s impact across the western United States, with the platform expanding over time to support broader emergency awareness in every region of the country.

“Trusted information saves lives. During emergencies, people need a single authoritative source they can rely on,” said Robert Wolf, Chief Executive Officer of Intterra. “What began as a vision with forward-thinking public safety leaders at CAL FIRE is now being expanded nationally through the support of America The Beautiful Foundation. This grant gives us the ability to move with urgency and scale, and most importantly, to support the first responders and emergency managers who serve their communities every day.”

Strengthening America for Its Next 250 Years

America The Beautiful Foundation supports national efforts focused on resilience, restoration, conservation, and strengthening communities for future generations. As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, the Foundation’s investment in the national Aware expansion reflects its belief that resilient communities require both strong natural systems and modern public safety infrastructure, and that ensuring every American can protect their family during an emergency is a vital part of the Foundation’s promise to the country.
